GARY N. COOPER, CPA, is a partner in  Gary N. Cooper, CPA PC., March 1990 to Present – Primary purpose is to build a public accounting practice that offers financial consulting, financial planning, accounting services, as well as tax and litigation support.  Mr. Cooper developed a diversified clientele in medical, retail, and commercial industries.  He performs M&A services, business evaluations, and strategic planning for small growth companies.  Mr. Cooper is also a paid speaker for both the accounting and eye care industry.


Mr. Cooper began his career with a major international firm where he served in the audit division. Mr. Cooper also held positions in industry with publicly traded companies as chief financial officer, chief accounting officer, and corporate treasurer.


His professional experience in public accounting included audit engagements in eye care, real estate, financial institutions, hotels, restaurants, and medical. He has performed numerous specialized audit engagements in the eye care industry with the primary objective to uncover employee irregularities and develop and assist in the implementation of improved policies and procedures. He has worked with companies ranging in size from large, multi-national corporations to small closely held companies. Mr. Cooper has also assisted individuals, partnerships, and closely held corporations with financial and tax planning consultations.  Mr. Cooper has also assisted legal counsel on service litigation support dealing with contract disputes and divorce.


His professional experience with corporations includes performing the job functions of chief financial officer, chief accounting officer, and corporate treasurer. Mr. Cooper has also been involved in several public registrations, performed due diligence procedures for various acquisitions, and was largely responsible for re-engineering the operations of several large multi-location corporations.


Mr. Cooper was an instructor for CPE, Inc. where he taught SEC Reporting, Compilations and Reviews, and Initial Public Offerings to members of his profession.  Mr. Cooper developed a class for Technology Institute on the difference in US and Mexican GAAP.  The class also covered SEC reporting for foreign filers and offshore transactions.  Further, he has written and made presentations to other CPA firms on SEC, GAAP updates and compilations, and reviews. Mr. Cooper also makes presentations to optometrists (University of Houston Optometry School, Texas Optometric Board, Texas State Optical) on How to Read Financial Statements, Controlling Employee Irregularities, Practice Management and Errors, and Policies and Procedures.  Most recently, he assisted The Lighthouse Group with a financial seminar for attorneys.
